D. Christopher Daniel is a native of Washington Parish, Louisiana. Chris received his undergraduate degree, with honors, from Louisiana Tech University and a juris doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law where he was a member of the Moot Court Board, Student Senate, Honor Court and President of the Student Bar Association.

Prior to joining the District Attorney’s office, Chris was in private practice for over ten years primarily handling litigation matters involving professional liability. Chris is admitted to all Mississippi Courts, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Chris is also a member of the Mississippi Bar and the Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association, where he serves on the Legislative Committee and Chairs the Restoration of Rights Committee. Chris also serves as Vice-President of the Hancock County Bar Association, and as a Mississippi Bar Commissioner.

Chris has completed the Child First child abuse training as well as specialized prosecutor training through the National District Attorney’s Association on the subject of child abuse and child homicide. Chris also serves on the Prosecutor Advisory Board for the national organization, Zero Abuse Project, that seeks to transform institutions in order to effectively prevent, recognize, and respond to child sexual abuse. Chris was a member of the Mississippi Bar’s 2012 Leadership Forum and has received Mississippi College’s Amicus Award (2008), Honorary Membership in Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity (2010), the Mississippi Bar’s Citizenship Award (2012), and the Mississippi Business Journal’s Leadership in Law Award (2014).

Chris also received CASA’s Light of Hope Outstanding Community Professional Award (2021) and the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi Champion for Children Award (2024) for his work on prosecuting crimes against children. Chris was named Prosecutor of the Year in 2023 by the Mississippi Attorney General, and in 2024 he was recognized by the MS Coast Chamber of Commerce as a One Coast Community Leader.  Chris was honored to receive an AV - Preeminent Peer Rating from Martindale Hubbell for highest level of ethical and professional excellence among the Bar.

In addition to being an Assistant District Attorney, Chris is a Captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve where he has served as an Interrogation Team Chief and conducted interagency coordination during three overseas deployments with USSOCOM and USSOUTHCOM. Chris is a graduate of the Air Force Command & Staff College, a student at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Public Affairs, and serves as an adjunct faculty member at Tulane University where he teaches classes in counter-terrorism and intelligence studies. Chris and his family attend First Methodist Church in Long Beach, MS where he served on the Board of Trustees.
