Ian Baker has served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Second Circuit Court District since 2013. Ian worked in the Biloxi office until 2021, when he was transferred to the Gulfport office and named Division Chief for Division 2. Ian is responsible for prosecuting major violent crimes, sex crimes, and drug trafficking cases. He is responsible for mentoring and training new Assistant District Attorneys and is a Certified Law Enforcement Instructor who routinely teaches at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Law Enforcement Academy.
Prior to joining the District Attorney’s Office, Ian was engaged in the private practice of law. Ian was a founding member of the former Biloxi law firm of Baker & Brewer, PLLC, where he practiced primarily in the areas of personal injury, employment law, and social security disability law. Prior to forming Baker & Brewer, PLLC, Ian worked as an associate attorney for LoCoco & LoCoco, P.A., in D’Iberville.
Ian also served as law clerk to the late Presiding Judge William H. Meyers on the Mississippi Court of Appeals in Jackson. Ian received his Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in 2006, and his Bachelor of Science from Mississippi College in 2001. Ian was a member of the football, track & field, and mock trial teams at Mississippi College.
Ian is licensed to practice law in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. He is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, Harrison County Bar Association, Mississippi Prosecutors Association, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Prosecutors Association. Ian formerly served on the Board of Directors for the Home of Grace, Faith Based Addiction Recovery, and is a Deacon at First Baptist Church Gulfport. Ian is married to Harrison County Court Judge Alison Baker and together they have three daughters.
