MATTHEW BURRELL

Matthew D. Burrell is an Assistant District Attorney for Harrison, Hancock, and Stone Counties. Matthew graduated from Mississippi State University in 2005 majoring in Banking and Finance and received his law degree from The University of Mississippi in 2008. Upon graduation from law school, Matthew clerked at the Mississippi Court of Appeals for the Late Honorable William H. Myers.

In 2009, Matthew joined the District Attorney’s office in Gulfport. From 2009- 2012, Matthew was assigned to the Gulfport office. In 2012 and 2013, he was assigned to prosecute all matters in Hancock County and, in 2013 returned back to the Gulfport office. Matthew is currently assigned to the Harrison County Gulfport office and to Stone County where he prosecutes all felony matters.

Matthew is a past President of the Harrison County Bar Association, has served on the Mississippi Bar’s Professionalism Committee, and is a current member of the Mississippi Bar Board of Bar Commissioners and the Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association.
