Mara Joffe is an Assistant District Attorney assigned to the Biloxi office. Mara received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Mississippi, graduating summa cum laude in 2014. She attended the University of Mississippi School of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 2017 with a concentration in Criminal Law. While in law school, Mara received the Outstanding Student Award for exemplary performance in both Legal Research and Writing and Criminal Procedure.

After law school, Mara clerked for the Honorable Jeff Weill, Sr., in the Seventh Circuit Court District of Mississippi. In 2018, she joined a local law firm in Gulfport, where she practiced family law and insurance defense and represented governmental entities including the Harrison County Emergency Communications Commission and the Hancock County Sheriff. Mara joined the District Attorney’s Office in March of 2023, returning to her hometown of Biloxi.

Mara is admitted to practice law in all Mississippi Courts, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the Mississippi and Harrison County Bar Associations, a member of the American Inns of Court, and a former board member of the Mississippi Center for Legal Services. Mara was awarded the 2025 Trial of the Year Award by the Mississippi Prosecutors Association, and she is a member of the Leadership Mississippi Bar Class of 2026.
